Red stains mean one thing: red pains! Red stains are a major pain to clean up, especially on the lighter carpets you find in homes these days. Most homes showcase fluffy white or cream carpets, and having a red stain or spot on them is unsightly and annoying. These stains are common in all types of homes, as red stain accidents can occur from anything from red wine to koolaid.
Red stains one of the most troublesome and difficult stains to get out of your carpet. Red wine stains can ruin a carpet entirely if not taken care of properly and efficiently. As with most things, the longer a stain sits on a material, the worse the stain will get. Making sure your carpets are well maintained and taken care of comes with a price, but the price is much less significant than the price of a new rug all together!
Imagine that you’re at a party and one of your guests spills a glass or a bottle of red wine on your carpet. The carpet fibers will soak up the wine quickly, but the best thing you can do at the moment, as quickly after the spill as possible, is to get some paper towels and blot up the spill. Try to get as much of the wine out of the carpet as you can by dabbing and blotting the rug with the paper towels, getting the excess liquid without trying to scrub the carpet. If you do scrub the carpet, you will be pushing the liquid further into the carpet fibers. Once you have gotten as much of the excess liquid as possible, the best thing to do is to leave it be and call us the next morning to come and fix it up!
The same goes for other red spills, such as koolaid or blood. Any red liquid that lands on your carpet will leave a mark, and some have more potency than others. We know which cleaning techniques and supplies to use for the various spots and spills, so rest assured we will have them all taken care of, no matter what they are!
Red wine is without a doubt the toughest stain to remove. People try to remove red wine stains themselves, but they usually end up only making things worse. When you add water to wine, you are diluting the wine, which can make the liquid spread as it loosens. This causes more of the watered down red wine to spread throughout the carpet fibers, making the stain grow and get larger. Spot treatment is difficult and best left to a professional, as trying to get rid of spots yourself can do more harm than good to your carpet. If you use the wrong kind of spot treatment or remover, you might end up bleaching your carpet and permanently damaging the carpet fibers
While red stains are annoying, they are fixable. Getting them out is a chore, but it is one that we are well equipped to take care of!
